Are you getting enough essential fats in your diet? . Have you been watching the #dietsecrets show on #channel5 over the last two weeks? I actually haven't seen the full episodes ( manic start to the year but will catch up this weekend!)... However a friend sent me a few clips of me and in this is one im talking about ESSENTIAL FATS. . 🤓 An essential fat that we need to get from the diet is omega 3. It's a polyunsaturated fat that plays a crucial role in how your body functions and have been shown to reduce inflammation that could lead to heart disease, cancers, diabetes, Alzheimer's and so on. . 🤓 Everyday food choices you make can boost your omega-3 intake. Here is how: 1. Become a fish fan. Eat fish a couple times a week and make sure at least one portion is oily ( salmon, mackerel, sardines, fresh tuna etc). Friday is one of my fish days for example! 2. Add a nutty flavour to your salad, soups or yogurt each day. A handful of walnuts or pumpkin seeds is a plant based source of alpha linoleic acid ( ALA) which the body partially converts to EPA and DHA ( the fatty acids that the body uses). 3. Throw a dash of flaxseed oil onto a salad or start cooking with canola oil for a nice hit of omega-3 4. Munch on seaweed or have miso soup ( which has seaweed) now and again as a starter or snack 5. If you are into chia seeds or flaxseed and the likes.. make sure you grind them as it increases the availablity of the plant based omega-3. @linwoodshealthfoods products I find useful but you can grind your own. 6. Functional foods that are enriched omega-3 like eggs or margarine don't really make a dent in your omega-3 intake so make sure you are on top of points 1-5! . Seriously the simplicity of this will blow your mind and it’s backed up by real science stuff too....... ● ↠The secret to a successful diet? ● ↠Do something you don’t normally do. That’s. It. ● Tumble weed 😂! I can just imagine your face right now and you’re about to scroll past because it’s pissed you off the that you read this and that’s all I had for you. But wait! Let me explain a bit more. ● So the ‘people that know’, you know the scientists and the nutritionists, they did some trials to see what was better, skip breakfast or eat breakfast. And what they found was that it didn’t really make any difference if it was what you were already doing. So if you always eat breakfast then nothing changes for you and vice verse. BUT! If you always eat breakfast and you were put in the group that has to skip it, you lost weight. Makes sense; you’re probably eating less by skipping a meal HOWEVER heres the interesting bit..... The people that always skipped breakfast and were put in the group that had to eat it also LOST WEIGHT. Why? Because by changing your habits you’re forced to be more mindful. It’s uncomfortable and you have to think about it all a bit more and that mindfulness spills over into the rest of the day and you suddenly become more aware of what you’re eating. ● what’s the point? Well if you feel like you’re beginning to plateau on whatever diet, exercise or wellness plan you started on January 1st then change it up! If you’re relying on methods or habits that you’ve used before, they aren’t working for you because you’ve hit the autopilot switch. Force yourself to take a new approach, turns out it doesn’t really matter what that is but purely by switching things up it will show you in stark relief if actually your plateau is because you’ve been eating too much, slacking in your exercise class or just generally not taking your wellness as seriously as you’d convinced yourself you were 😬😬 #awkward! Try it and see if it’s the solution you’re looking for. 😘😘
